Virginia “Ginny” Comforti 73 of Worcester, joins her parents Joseph and Virginia (Quitadamo) Monfreda in Paradise after succumbing to her illness after a courageous and hard-fought battle on Friday April 16, 2021 at UMass, surrounded by her loving family.
Ginny leaves her adoring and loving husband of 50 years, James Comforti, who kept her alive and fighting all these years. Her 3 Angels, her children, Michael Comforti Sr. and his wife Linda of Holden, Michelle Rose of Worcester, and James A. Comforti Jr of Worcester. Ginny also leaves the absolute loves of her life, her grandchildren, Joseph and Domenic Rose, Michael Jr. and Stella Comforti. She leaves behind her two best friends, her sisters, Elaine Cronin and her husband Cliff of Shrewsbury and JoAnne Vigliotti and her husband Ralph of Worcester. Ginny leaves her brother in-law Frank Comforti and his wife Ann Marie of Worcester along with several nieces and nephews that she cherished. Ginny was also predeceased by her in-laws, Joseph and Columbia (Setaro-Padavano) Comforti.
Ginny adored her family and committed her unselfish ways to them up until the end. She loved sports and encouraged her kids and grandchildren to get into activities involving just that. She loved attending and watching her grandson, MJ, play baseball and football and loved family vacations in Hampton Beach as well as Old Orchard. Those memories will always be cherished.
Ginny dedicated 33 years as a Chief Records Clerk for the Worcester Police Department. Ginny also held many positions for the Joe DiMaggio Little League in the 70’s and 80’s where she touched a lot of souls, especially the kids who played there. Ginny was also a tremendous advocate in support of Autism Research and her sweetheart Dom.
Ginny’s family would like to thank Dr. “Sid” and his staff on 6East on the University campus at UMass who were so kind and helpful to Ginny and her family.
Funeral services for Ginny will begin with calling hours on Friday April 23, 2021 from 4-7pm at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Worcester, Ma 10605. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at St. John’s Church 40 Temple St. Worcester, Ma 01604. Burial will be private.
