Virginia (Petrozzi) Czubrynski, 97, of Worcester, died peacefully Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester. Virginia was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Peluso) Petrozzi and lived there all her life.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Marie Sciammacco and her husband Frank of Shrewsbury, and Marybeth Palitsch of Braintree. Virginia leaves five grandchildren, Christina Andreoli and her husband AJ of Holden, Sara Sciammacco of Boston, Gina Anderson and her husband Christopher of Wayland, Kate Czaplinski and her husband Jeffrey of Walpole, and Jason Palitsch of Shrewsbury; and seven great-grandchildren, Elise, Paige and Jack Andreoli, Mac and Nora Anderson, and Roy and Evan Czaplinski. She also leaves one brother Francis Petrozzi and his wife Barbara of Worcester and many nieces and nephews, including Lois Guerra and Joanne Davolio, who spent so much time with her over the years. Virginia was pre-deceased by her husband Frank Czubrynski, who died in 1987, and her brother Lawrence Petrozzi and her sisters, Philomena Cogoli, Mildred Gabriella, Anna Guerra, and Irene and Helen Petrozzi.
Virginia lived for years at the Mount Carmel Apartments on Shrewsbury Street and made many friends there. She lived independently in her home until she was 96 years old, and only giving up her driver’s license a few years earlier. She was a devoted, strong-willed woman with a big heart and sense of humor -- she made anyone who knew her or cared for her laugh. She was an avid newspaper reader and word search puzzler, and enjoyed FaceTiming with family, cooking and baking, watching sports, attending social events, and going out to dinner. She was very interested in politics throughout her life – she voted in all elections, worked the polls, and participated in parades and festivals with local officials. Virginia was so proud of her daughters and grandchildren and their accomplishments – she relished in talking about them to others.
Virginia’s family would like to thank all the staff on the 5th Floor of the Jewish Healthcare Center who took such great care of her and treated her so kindly. She told us frequently how much she liked being there and how she greatly appreciated her caretakers, specifically the nurses, assistants, and the activities staff. A special thank you to Stacy who accompanied her on numerous trips for appointments.
