Virginia N O'Neil

Virginia N. (Martin) O’Neil, 47, a resident of Holden passed away suddenly Monday, October 10th, 2022, at home.

Virginia “Ginny” was born in Springfield, Ma the daughter of Betty (Safarik) Martin and the late, Harry Martin. Raised in Springfield, Virginia earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Worcester State College and worked many years for the Umass-Memorial Hospital system in the Marlborough facility and most recently in the Belmont Street Worcester facility.

Virginia is survived by her husband John J. O’Neil, Jr., three children, Matthew O’Neil and his companion Taya Neil of Worcester, Shannon O’Neil, and Brandon O’Neil both of Holden; her mother, Betty Martin of Springfield; her three siblings  Edward Perrot of Ware, Mike Perrot of Springfield, and Louise Bouchard of North Brookfield; her mother-in-law, Lorraine O’Neil of Worcester, brother and sisters in law, Stephen O’Neil, Maureen Beauregard and Margaret Quinlivan; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Her father Harry and sister Lorraine Perrot predeceased her.

Virginia loved her job as a nurse helping people. She enjoyed the beaches of Wells, Maine, deep sea fishing and spending time with her children. Virginia also enjoyed working with her husband John in their woodworking business “Handmade with Love New England” constructing many different types of wood carvings and products.

Funeral services and burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Holden will be private. There are no calling hours.     The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
