Virginia (Navin) Urso

February 13, 1929 — July 13, 2019

Virginia M. “Ginny” (Navin) Urso, 90 of Worcester passed away Saturday, July 13th, 2019 with the ones she loved gathered at her bedside, joining in heaven her Love and husband of 63 years, Gennaro who passed away September 24th of last year.    

Ginny leaves behind,  her three devoted sons and their families,   Thomas E. Urso and his wife Cindy Furhman of Worcester, James W. Urso and his wife Lori of Worcester, and Robert F. Urso and his wife Michele of Auburn;  her cherished grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Kevin, Matthew, Caitlin and her partner Jon Rollins, and Nicholas; and the apple of her eye, Ava, her great granddaughter;  Ginny was predeceased by, two brothers, Thomas Navin and John J. Navin, Jr. and her sister, Joan C. Amato; Many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Born, raised and educated in Worcester, Virginia was the daughter of John J. Navin, Sr. and Jeanne L. (Comeau) Navin.   In 1955, Gennaro and Virginia married and raised their family over the next 63 years, in Worcester, and five years in Auburn before returning to Worcester.   A homemaker, who cherished her role caring for her family, raising her children and being inspired and proud of her grandchildren and great granddaughter.   Ginny always believed that her family came first before anything or anyone. She was the backbone of her family and remained devoted to them her entire life.  A beautiful woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family, cooking and baking for her family, Sundays with her family, the Holidays, vacations at the Cape in Dennis and Brewster and any moment that she could be with her family.  Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through life's challenges.  Ginny’s passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.

The Urso family would like to thank the entire staff of the Lutheran Home and Brookdale Senior Living Center in Auburn for their kindness and compassion shown to both our father and mother during their time in their care.  It will always be appreciated.

Virginia’s funeral will be held, Friday, July 19th, 2019 with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto 37 Massasoit Rd.  A period of calling hours will be held IN THE CHURCH from 9am to 10am prior to the Mass.  Burial next to Gennaro will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eight Avenue, 16th floor, New York, NY 10001 The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St is honored to be assisting the Urso family once again.
