Vivian (Vigliatura) Pigaga

August 8, 1932 — May 12, 2023

Vivian A. (Vigliatura) Pigaga, 90, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away with her devoted daughter at her bedside, Friday, May 12th, 2023.

 

Born and raised in Worcester, Vivian was the daughter of Joseph A. and Josephine (Massad) Vigliatura. Educated in the Worcester schools, Vivian went on to graduate from Ollis Beauty Academy and Salters Secretarial School. She worked for a brief period as a cosmetologist before accepting a position with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Trial Court as administrative senior clerk to Judge Walter Conlin in the Probate Division before retiring.

 

Vivian’s husband of 60 years and “love of her life” Vite Pigaga left her side on September 14, 2016. She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Denise C. Pigaga; three sisters, Rita Hughes, Miriam Vigliatura, and Linda Sebetes;  many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and Vite, Vivian has had to mourn the loss of two sons, Vite J Pigaga, Jr and Scott Pigaga: her brother, Joseph A Vigliatura, Jr. and three sisters, Lorraine Nadreau, Judith Champagne, and Dolores Forsley.

 

Vivian was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. Vivian enjoyed winters in Florida playing Golf with Vite and friends; summers in Dennisport on Cape Cod as a young family and many summers at her daughter’s summer home in Wells Maine. Along with Vite, Vivian was a member of former, Holden House Country Club. She loved to swim at the YMCA, Travel with Vite and friends George and Mary Stewart, bake and cook homemade Italian and Lebanese specialties.

 

The Pigaga family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Notre Dame Long Term Health Care Center and Eleni Gonzalez for the care, comfort and compassion they gave to Vivian, and a very special thank you to Ann and Frank Masiello (#1) for the loving care they gave to Vivian and family. 

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, May 18th, 2023, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. before proceeding in procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd where her Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial in the family lot will follow in St John’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the St Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St Jude Way, Memphis of the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St. Worcester.
