Walter J. Moquin, 88, of Millbury, passed away peacefully in Worcester surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to the late Elsie M. (Gremo) Moquin, and dedicated father to the late Paula A. Ward of Millbury.

Sadly, in addition to the love of his life, and his daughter; Walter was predeceased by his hero and beloved grandson Pfc. Brian M. Moquin Jr., who was KIA in 2006 serving in the U.S. Army; and his four siblings, Patricia O’Neill, William Moquin, Robert “Joker” Moquin, and Albert Moquin.

Walter is survived by his three loving children, Sheila A. Dezotell of Millbury, Brian M. Moquin Sr. and his fiancé Lynne Puzar of Millbury, and Walter J. Moquin Jr. and his wife Karin of Oxford; his adored grandchildren, Rose A. Finne of Millbury, Lindsey M. Dezotell and her wife Leiah of St. Petersburg, FL, Ashley M. Bessette of Millbury, Jason W. Dezotell and his wife Chelsea of Southborough, Brianna M. Mendez of Millbury, Kaitlin R. Moquin and Benjamin J. Moquin of Oxford; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Gianna R. Muriuki of Millbury, Anthony J. Bessette of Millbury, and Colby E. Dezotell of Southborough; and his caring brother Paul Moquin of Worcester. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and close friends.

Born in Worcester on June 18, 1936, Walter was the son of the late Armand N. and Clara (Bergstrom) Moquin. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School and served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1957. He was a carpenter specializing in flooring and was a member of the Carpenters Union. Walter was an avid golfer and devout Catholic. His greatest passion was spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There are no words that can capture how much Walter will be missed.

Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel are honored to assist the family with arrangement. There will be no services scheduled at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Walter’s memory to Catholic Charities of Worcester County or EWTN Global Catholic Network.
