William F. Barrett, of Paxton, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, a day shy of his 82nd birthday, at Saint Vincent Hospital.
William is survived by his loving wife and “Queen” of nearly fifty years, Linda M. (Fontaine) Barrett; five children, Kerry J. Williams and her husband Thomas of Fargo, ND, Robert L. Gentile and his wife Ann-Marie of Douglas, William Barrett of North Carlolina, Brenda M. Gentile of Worcester, and Brian M. Gentile and his wife Adrienne of Millbury; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. William was born in Marlborough and was the last surviving of five children born to Donald and Charlotte (Gilliard) Barrett. Following high school, he lived in Marlborough for several more years, before moving to Worcester in 1974.
William was a talented carpenter and worked as a union carpenter with the Carpenter’s Union Local 475 for many years, before retiring in 2000. He loved hunting, fishing, putting together puzzles and was a great collector of tools both antique and newer. His greatest joy was his family.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, May 10, from 5 p.m. until a prayer service begins at 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
