William Octavio Roque, 68, of Worcester passed away surrounded by loved ones, Thursday, September 6th 2018.
William was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, a son of William and Julia (Santos) Roque. As a young child, with 15 siblings, Woody moved to New York City to live with his Aunt Ana Gonzalez who cared for and raised him as her own. On July 4th of 1978, William married Gladys Rodrigues and moved to Worcester to raise their family with Love, devotion and dedication.
Woody is survived by his devoted wife Gladys; The family that was his inspiration and life’s pleasure, his five children, Yajaira Lugo and William A. Roque all of Worcester, William O Roque Jr of Oxford, Denise Roque in New Jersey and Angel Munoz in New York City; his Aunt Ana Gonzalez; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both here and Puerto Rico.
He was a member of St Paul’s Cathedral. He loved Dancing and Salsa music. A great sense of humor, Woody enjoyed bowling, clowning around, making people laugh and especially being with his grandchildren whom he was so proud of. Woody also found enjoyment watching the New York Yankees, and New England Patriots.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Wednesday, September 12th 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Thursday, September 13th from the funeral home with a procession to St Paul’s Cathedral, 19 Chatham St. where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
