Robert E. Colbert, Jr.

BOYLSTON - Robert E. Colbert, Jr., 74 died suddenly as a result of an automobile accident August 1, 2011. Bob was a life-long resident of Boylston. He was predeceased by his parents: Isabelle and Robert Colbert, Sr. and wife of 48 years, Concetta LaVecchia. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Colbert and wife Eileen of Bethesda, MD. He will be sadly missed by his five children: Kathleen Mobed and husband Sirouss of Clermont, FL, Mary Ellen Colbert-Smith of Niagara Falls, Canada, Susan D'Agostino of Marmora, NJ, Robert E. Colbert III and wife, Susan of Boylston, and Tricia Eck and husband, Chris of Worcester, Grandchildren: Robert, Ryan and Shane Smith, Luis and Alexandria D'Agostino, Ariya Mobed, Paul and Emmett Colbert, and Nicholas Eck, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Bob graduated in 1955 from St John's Prep School on Temple St in Worcester where he played defense on the hockey team. He attended Holy Cross College. He entered into his family's business, Colbert's Transfer and for many years transported the mail from Clinton to Springfield. He was also involved with the carnival business, Colbert's Amusements where he produced lawn parties and fund raisers for civic and church groups throughout MA and neighboring states. He was a Real Estate Broker for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his very close friends Harriett, Kelly and John Lynch in Florida and his family. Services for Robert will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. George Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint John Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
