Carol A. Jewell

Carol A. Jewell,74, of Worcester died peacefully Friday June 8, 2018 in the UMASS Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Carol is survived by two daughters, Patricia Lanzillotti of Shrewsbury and Susan Shankle and her husband Kevin of Worcester. Carol was the proud grandmother to Rebecca and her husband Alex, Erika and her husband Shawn, Scott and his wife Ali and Maria. Carol also leaves her great grandchildren Alexa, Isaiah, Nolan, Adalyn, Christian, Christopher and godsons Paul and Joshua, brother-in-law James and sister-in-law Elaine and her husband Patrick, her dear friend Ed, many family and friends in America and Australia. Carol was predeceased her former husband Frank DiGiorno, thier son, Mark DiGiorno, their daughter, Janet DiGiorno, and a grandson Jack Lanzillotti.

Carol was born in St. Arnaud Australia daughter of the late Wallace and Valerie (Giles) Jewell and came to the United States at the age of 2. Carol was a graduate of Commerce High School. Carol worked as a unit secretary in the Recovery Room at UMASS Medical Center for several years. After leaving UMASS she was an Administrative Assistant in the Postpartum Maternity Unit at St. Vincent Hospital and worked their until she retired.

Carol was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. She was a avid reader,and loved playing scrabble. She enjoyed watching movies, doing crafts and was an excellent cook. She loved going to the Cape and cruising with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all.

Calling hours for Carol will be held on Tuesday June 12, from 4PM to 7PM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. A prayer service will be held at 7PM.Family and friends are invited to meet Wednesday morning at 10:30AM in the funeral home for a procession to Notre Dame Cemetery at 11:00AM for Interment.
