George B. Nevins, 93, of Dudley, formerly of Sutton, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Saint Vincent Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. His wife of forty-nine years, Geraldine (Cunningham) Nevins, predeceased him in 2000.
George is survived by their children, a son, Brian D. Nevins and his wife Barbara of Basking Ridge, NJ; three daughters, Colleen M. Young and her husband Steve of Webster, Eilene Fanning wife of the late, Robert Fanning of Webster, and Georganne Bronzo and her husband John of Dudley; three sisters, Mary Nevins, Kathleen Riley, and Annmarie Scheidel; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his best buddy, his dog Buster. George was predeceased by six siblings, John, James, and Robert Nevins, Margaret Slawinski, Patricia Nevins, and Eleanor Rose. George was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, son of the late, James B. and Julia I. (Lasarus) Nevins. He graduated from Nutley High School in New Jersey and later served his nation proudly in the United States Army.
George worked for many years at Table Talk Pie and retired from there as District Sales Manager, before taking the same position at Garber Brothers Distributing. He was a member of Saint Mark’s Parish, he enjoyed tending to his home and gardens, and loved the New England Patriots. His family was always his priority, and the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apples of his eyes.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, September 14, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be on Thursday, September 15, departing the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. in procession to a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Mark’s Church, 356 Boston Road, Sutton. Interment will follow at Howard Cemetery, Sutton.
