Joseph F. Benoit, 66, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, surrounding by his family at Saint Vincent Hospital. His long-time companion, Elizabeth Alston, predeceased him in October 2022.
Joseph is survived by two sisters, Donna L. Benoit-Simarano and her husband John, and Christine E. Albin and her husband Kurt; three brothers, John L. Benoit, Michael R. Benoit and his wife Virginia, Daniel J. Benoit and his wife Amy; a sister in law, Lynn Benoit of Auburn; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister, James P., Mark A., Timothy C., and Denise Benoit. He was also predeceased by two nephews, godson Christopher Bosowski and Matthew Benoit. Joseph was born in Worcester, son of the late, Joseph W. and Patricia C. (Hallahan) Benoit and has lived there most of his life.
Joe worked as a machinist for many years at Imperial Machine before moving to Maine to work the fishing docks with his father. Upon his return to Worcester, he worked various construction jobs and asbestos removal. Joe was a "jack of all trades", he could fix almost anything you needed help with. Mainly, he was an artist at heart, taking pride in photographing and painting religious portraits and natural landscapes, while taking personal request. He could play guitar and sing as well. He enjoyed watching all New England sports teams, hunting, fishing with his family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, November 12, at 11 a.m. in Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. His family will receive friends and relatives at the church from 10 a.m. until the Mass begins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint John’s Food for The Poor.
