Mary C. Healy-Vigliotti, 74, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was a life-long Worcester resident. She was born on April 18th, 1949, the daughter of Joseph R. and M. Charlotte (Grealis) Healy. She was part of the first graduating class of Doherty Memorial High School, and later received her Associate’s Degree. Mary worked for the Worcester Housing Authority for over thirty years, before she retired.
She was a traveler. She toured Europe and South America to name a couple. However, her most beloved location was with her family in NYC during the Christmas season. She passed down this love of travel to her children. Mary loved spending time with her family. Her favorite time with them was always around the kitchen table, having dinner together, sharing stories, and finishing it with coffee. She also enjoyed going out with her friends for a girl’s night, but she especially loved being with her Matteo.
Mary was not one to slow down, she found two jobs in her “retirement” that allowed her to be out in the community with people she loved, as she worked for eighteen years as the front lobby receptionist at Jewish Healthcare Center, and as a greeter at the former Manzi Funeral Home. It wasn’t until the birth of her grandson Matteo, that she left her “retirement jobs” to watch him when his parents were working.
Mary was a member of Christ the King Church and held onto her faith all throughout her life. She was a CYC advisor and a CCD teacher. She was a member of the Democratic City Committee and UNICO Club of Worcester. Mary loved to be surrounded by people, she was always one to share a smile, a warm welcome, a funny story, and an update about her grandson.
Mary is survived by her children, a son, Joseph N. Vigliotti; a daughter, Mary Terese Vigliotti her partner Andrew Carelli, and their son, who was the light of Mary’s eye, Matteo, her precious grandson.
Mary’s family would like to thank her Jewish Healthcare family, the Hematology/Oncology department at Reliant Medical Group, and the wonderful staff of the ICU at Saint Vincent’s Hospital for all their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center or Worcester Animal Rescue League.
