Matthew John Joseph Sullivan

October 29, 1985 — July 21, 2023

Matthew John Joseph Sullivan, 37, of Oklahoma, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023.

Matthew is survived by his loving partner, Brittany Brunson; his daughter, Mikaela; his father and his partner, Lawrence A. Sullivan and Maureen Walsh; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including uncles, Joseph and Dennis Frechette.  Matthew was predeceased by his mom, Suzanne (Frechette) Sullivan and by his brother, John L. Sullivan.  Matthew was born in Worcester and lived here for many years, before moving to Oklahoma. 

Matthew graduated from Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury and attended Saint Joseph’s College in Vermont.  He was a Sergeant in the United Marine Corps, becoming a third-generation combat veteran, with his service as a member of special ops in Iraq and Afghanistan and witnessed intense fighting in Fallujah.  

Matthew became a manager at a health care facility providing guidance to veterans.  He loved Soccer and to the chagrin of his family he was a Dallas Cowboys fan.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be on Friday, August 4, at 12 Noon in the Saint George Section of Saint John’s Cemetery, Cambridge Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Veteran’s Inc, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
