Michael Paul Marzilli

Michael Paul Marzilli, 49, of Worcester, MA passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at UMass Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the proud father of Anthony, Matthew, and Julianna Marzilli; beloved son of Paula Gerardi; cherished brother of Pamela Gerardi; treasured grandson of Dorothy Marzilli and the late Paul Marzilli, who was more like a father to him. He also leaves his godfather and uncle, Joseph Marzilli, godmother Patricia Fleming, special friends Michael Fitzpatrick, Brian Suprenant, Michael Brooks, Jeff Laria, and Shawn McGurn, who was his dedicated home health aide during his illness. Many cousins also survive, including Gail Dillon, to whom the family wishes to express their gratitude for all the love, care, and support she gave to Michael and the family. Along with his grandfather, Michael was predeceased by his former wife, Karen (Smith) Marzilli.

Michael was an avid sports fan who was very active with Little League during his younger years. A known pool shark, he and Michael Fitzpatrick teamed up and frequently ran the table, wherever they competed. Michael worked for many years as a successful car salesman, even earning an award for top salesman at Herb Chambers. Michael had a great sense of humor and ability to spread contagious laughter. His happiest times were spent at Hampton Beach with family and friends. He was loved so much and will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at UMass Memorial Hospital, who always worked so hard to give Michael the best of care.

A period of visitation will be held Monday, September 12 from 9:00-10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 931 Main St. Worcester. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery & Mausoleum, Cambridge St., Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to be made to a charity of your choice.
