Salvatore “Sal” Arcuri, 60, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. His father, Angelo Arcuri, predeceased him in December 2023.
Sal is survived by his wife, Franca (Cofone) Arcuri; two daughters, Pamela Tresca and her husband Niko of Pomfret, CT, and Angelica Arcuri and her fiancé Tariq of Uxbridge; two grandchildren, Lorenzo Salvatore and Alessandra Andrea; two brothers, Santo Arcuri and his wife Teresa of Worcester, and David Arcuri and his wife Vanessa of Grafton; three sisters, Domenica Conte and her husband Tony of Auburn, Concetta “Connie” Ritacco and her husband Mario of Sutton, and Ivana Pellegrino and her husband Cosimo of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. Sal’s mother, Palma (Caliguri) Arcuri, died in 2018. Sal was born in Acri, Cosenza, Italy, and moved to Worcester, with his family in 1969. He grew up in Worcester and graduated from North High School and later from Bromm’s Academy.
Sal was a talented hairdresser/owner of Arcuri Moda Salon on June Street in Worcester, having previously worked at Capelli Avanti Salon with his brother. When not making people beautiful, Sal loved to golf and play bocce. He was proud to play on his father’s Sons of Italy Bocce team, “Italia”; the 2023 bocce league champions.
Sal loved to be with his family and was overjoyed to be a grandfather. He was always there for family and friends and was usually the first person to offer a helping hand to anyone.
Calling Hours will be on Thursday, January 25, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be on Friday, January 26, with a procession departing the funeral home at 10:40 a.m., en route to an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
