Sylvia Maria (Diaz) Rivera, 83, of Worcester, MA peacefully passed away on November 2, 2022, at Saint Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 3, 1939, in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, to Leonzio Diaz and Sebastiana (Valentin) Diaz. Sylvia is now reunited with her husband, Eufracio Rivera.
Sylvia is survived by two sons, Louis Rivera of Worcester, and Frank Rivera of Auburn; two daughters, Naida Rivera of Worcester and Sarah Rivera and her husband Fidel Correa, Sr.; a brother, Juan Diaz; a sister, Carmen Caraballo; her grandchildren, Nyla Torres and her fiancé Erik Iverson, Jovani Torres, Frankie Lee Rivera and his wife Helene Rivera , Francine Kubert and her husband Jason Kubert, Tayna Rivera-White and her husband Robert White and Cynthia Fuentes; 13 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a grandson, Franco L. Rivera; four brothers and three sisters.
Sylvia was a beautiful person and amazing soul. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family and friends and cooking for everyone who stepped foot in her home. Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through life’s challenges. Sylvia’s ’s passing leaves a void in our hearts, but her loving and caring soul will never be forgotten.
A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 10th from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. Burial will follow to All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester.
