Virginia was born in Worcester on October 9, 1930, where she lived all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester. She worked for over 40 years at Big D and then Price Chopper, on Sunderland Road, Worcester where she was the unofficial “hostess”. It seemed she knew everyone in Worcester.
Virginia’s main driving forces in her life were her family and her faith. For many years she attended daily Mass at St. Stephen’s church and was always lighting a candle in her home “shrine” to pray for a family member or friend. She was a kind and gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor and positive spirit. She took joy in entertaining her family and friends especially during her famous Sunday dinners. No one ever left hungry.
The family would like to thank Summit Elder Care for their care and support over the years assisting her devoted daughter Debra with her nursing care.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, February 22 from 4-7pm at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. At the request of the family, all guests are asked to wear masks. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 23 at 9:40am from the funeral home in procession to St. John’s Catholic Church, 44 Temple St., Worcester. Entombment will follow in St. John Mausoleum.
