There are specific requirements for preparing, packaging, and shipping human (or animal) cremated remains. The United States Postal Service (USPS) is the only shipper that allows the shipment of cremated remains. You must use Priority Mail Express, and clearly identify the contents. USPS even has a special Cremated Remains label (Label 139) available at your post office. An illustrated US Postal Service brochure,
How to Package and Ship Cremated Remains, explains it all for you, including information on how to ship to an address outside the United States.
We understand how painful losing a loved one is, and we respect anyone traveling with cremated remains. Passengers are allowed to carry a crematory container as part of their carry-on luggage, but the container must pass through the X-ray machine. If the container is made of a material that generates an opaque image and prevents the Transportation Security Officer from clearly being able to see what is inside, then the container cannot be allowed through the security checkpoint.

VA burial allowances are flat-rate monetary benefits. They help cover eligible Veterans’ burial and funeral costs. Generally, they are paid at the maximum amount allowed by law. A 2014 VA regulation change helped simplify the program. Eligible surviving spouses are now paid automatically. This happens upon notification of the Veteran’s death. There is no need to submit a claim. However, VA may grant additional benefits after receiving a claim. These include plot or interment allowance and transportation allowance.
The VA created Planning Your Legacy: VA Survivors and Burial Benefits Kit, to assist Veterans and their family members in pre-need planning and record storage.
VA honors the sacrifices of Servicemembers’ and Veterans’ dependents and survivors through many benefit programs, which may be available to a surviving spouse, dependent child(ren), and/or parent(s).

For those wishing a traditional burial, our cemetery is one of the most picturesque in the area. Beautifully landscaped and groomed, the cemetery provides the ultimate final resting place for a loved one. The centerpiece of the cemetery is the Apostles' Monument, a stately granite structure with likenesses of the apostles carved in each face. The cemetery maintains a large selection of lot locations and sizes. Several different payment options are available, including a prepayment plan. To permit individual expression, we allow great flexibility in styles and sizes of markers. The purchase of each grave site includes a "perpetual care" agreement which entitles the owner to complimentary lot maintenance into perpetuity.
Hope Cemetery, established in 1852, is an historic rural cemetery owned by the City. Visitors, upon first entering Worcester County Memorial Park, quickly notice that there are no walls, fences, gates or chains. The park is open at all times, with never a period, day or night, when a family member or friend cannot visit the final resting place of a loved one. Apparent, too, is the absence of traditional monuments and tombstones found in most other cemeteries. At Worcester Country Memorial Park, the various sections are known as “Gardens”, and the atmosphere of each distinct one has been created by thoughtfully combining flowing lawns, tasteful plantings, stately statues and ground-level memorials.
